This article presents the United States’s Rapid Fielding Initiative (RFI), a new way of issuing and supplying soldiers quickly with the modern equipment they need. This programme, driven by the Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier, has made it possible to make up equipment deficiencies noted in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Changes in Forces' Equipment
The United States and France have a long history of defense cooperation dating back to the modern roots of both countries.
The Battle of Yorktown and the Battle of Normandy are two sterling examples of this cooperation. From this illustrious past, and continuing on today in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Africa and around the globe, France and the United States remain vital partners, strongly allied and linked in cooperation.
Since the days of the American Revolution, there have been considerable advances in armaments, weapons research and development and logistics on the battlefield. Each battlefield has yielded experience and lessons learned, including valuable lessons on what is needed now and in the future.
